COMMON SPRUCE TORTRIX
EPINOTIA REDELLA
Fig 1

The hindwings are grey. LARVAE: The green larvae sport a broad reddish grey subdorsal line and feed among the needles of Spruce, mining when small, and later in an untidy spinning. BEHAVIOUR:  The adult moth is attracted to light. HABITAT: Found in coniferous woodland and plantations, less frequent in parks and gardens where the foodplant is found. FLIGHT PERIOD: May and June. STATUS: A fairly common micro-moth throughout the British Isles but can be quite localised.
